November 05, 2009

Child bonded servitude is very common among the economically poor classes. It rather gives the authority to the masters not to employ a child but rather use one. The range of this usage is from unfixed work timings – risk works – sex slaveries. This entire labor mapping builds a pessimistic consciousness within the child laborers which further is a relationship gap between parents – children (laborers).One the other hand these children in complains against their employers or master are given a shut-up call instead of being listen to from their parents and families. These non supportive attitudes of the parent build a cycle of violence for them.Along with the pain to children the non supportive attitudes of the parent build and expend the Gap between them and their children.As the family is the very basic social unite of a personality formation of individuals so the children who experience no support and advocacy from their family and home are brought up with aggressive, rebellious and violent mentality. It is noteworthy that the family women including mothers and sisters if attempt to support or are forcefully stopped.Another bitter actuality of the off-house surrounding and environment of poverty, misery, mishaps, injustice, hatred and deprivations built the psyche of the child laborers at various conscious scales.Along with it are generational and state entrenched oppressions, systemic discrimination and conscious subjugation that steal the heart contentment and smiles of the common lots.In addition are the lack of mutual neighborhood support, fear of persecutions, fear of being involved in false police cases, fear of defeatism if proceed and a lot other factors.

This whole violence mechanisms build pessimism within the child laborers which further bring various side effects such as:

1. Inferior and hate approach towards one’s self;
2. Hot-temperaments, anger and violent attitudes within families and children; Parents – children gaps
3. Shaken trusts on God and their fellow human beings;
4. Sleeplessness and Horror dreams;
5. Snub Attitude in their justice and right Issues;
6. Doubts and rebellious psyche even towards their well wishers and supporters.
7. Various stresses and phobias

By the time and the friendship ties my group and me are now more in friendship and confidence with the child laborers in Nishtar Town, Lahore who feel free to share their hot vents with my group and me. Few of their shared words are as below:

- While seeing the school children going to school I really want to give them hammer strokes till they die;

- I want to run away from my house;

- I confess that the care and compassion of my Ustad (Employer of the child labor) make me to surrender to his sexual abuse;

- I feel painful when I see the cheerful children of my age;

- The usage of drug escapes me from my pessimism;

- I face a whole day long verbal and physical subjugations that hurt me;

- Who is responsible for our stolen smiles?

- My father has taken the cash in advanced from my Ustad (Employer of the child labor) and my father has asked me to be obedient to my Ustad;

- I hate the none child laborers;

- My bonded servitude has actually put me in sex slavery.

Along with the connections of Peace Ambassadors Pakistan we visited and interviewed 35 the child laborers (bonded servitudes). The findings give alarming formations of these child laborers. Few of them are: Self blaming, feeling inferior, feeling isolated, ambitious, drug addictions, sexual lust, fear, phobias, guilt, feeling of sinfulness, revenge psyche, self projections behaviors and the consciousness of anger and hatred

The Study Intention

In the male dominant society of Pakistan women and children are completely deprived off from decision-makings and choice makings. These build them with psyche of pessimism about life and God.

Self hatred, rebelliousness and violent conscious built is formed among them which they practice at home on their weaker or equitant family members. This brings divisions and gaps in the family.

There may be silence and “I am O.K.” showing from these children and women due to the fear of the male family head but there is a truce between the family patriarch and family members.

So the study intention to layout the situation of children and to build and enrich a peace consciousness, attitudes, words and deed among violent Child bonded servitude.
