Psychic and attitudinal mapping of the trauma affected children
Lahore: November 01, 2009, (PCTV Newsdesk)“Collaboration against Religious Violence and Extremism” CARVE – PAKISTAN had a one day program with the parents of the trauma effected school children from the terrorists’ blasts in Lahore (March and October, 2009 in Lahore) on 01 November, 2009 in Lahore. The event title was “psychic and attitudinal mapping of the trauma affected children”.
The program was divided into two sessions
- Trauma impacts by Mr. Inderias Dominic Bhatti;
- Extending refuge to children by Mr. Shaheen Bhatti;
- Feeling of insecurity from sudden unknown harms and hits;
- Shakes and shivering upon any noise;
- Horror dreams;
- Disobedience of parents and elders;
- Upset stomachs;
- Headaches;
- Sweating;
- Shouting for nothing;
- Fear of smoke colors and schools widow glass similarities everywhere.
- Sleep disorders;
- Various phobias and illusive fears;
- Ego and self respect over-powering or declining;
- Fear from ambulance sirens;
- Hot temper and rebellious attitudes;
- Pessimism about life and God;
- Decrease or increase in normal thirst and /or appetites
- And others
In answering questions of parents Mrs. Bhatti concluded that the trauma counseling can not be specified in time frame and quick behavioral change of the children but rather needs patience to get the trauma grips “knotting off” from the innocent minds of the children.
On behalf of the parents of trauma affected children Mrs. Mohammad Karim Thanked CARVE to organize the event which had given them an understanding to know the post terrorist blast trauma psyche and attitudes of their children. She hoped the same of the other parents as well.
“This know-how has given us the view to be anger free and tolerant while responding our aggressive and rebellious children. She at the end said that parental passion can not only bring “Peace-oriented” children but even the generations ahead”, she added.
