Pastor And Church Believer Severely Attacked In Karnataka State, India

A group of Hindu radicals severely abused and beat an Indian pastor and church believer near to Attibele, Bangalore, a quiet town, 35km (about 22 miles) from Bangalore on the border of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, and accused them of “forceful conversion.”

According to the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), the incident took place as Pastor Chandrachari (37) and believer Chandra Gowda (35) were on a ministry visit to a nearby village.

The GCIC source reported that they both reached the village at around 10.00 am and then they spent time with the families in the village sharing the love of Christ.

The source said that the attack took place at around 2:00 pm when a group of 15-20 Hindu radicals viciously attacked and severely beat both of them. Then they abused them with “harsh words,” and accused them of “forceful conversion” in the village.

After that, the radicals snatched away their Bibles, gospel tracts and then burnt them.

GCIC Source said that both of them were seriously injured in the “continuous thrashing” by the Hindu radicals.

According to the medical reports, it was revealed that Pastor Chandrachari sustained severe internal injuries.

A few villagers filed a complaint at the nearby police station, while others contacted GCIC and narrated the incident to the concerned staff.

The GCIC source said that the pastor and his colleague were detained in the police station until 11:00 pm and then they were released.
