Blast Suspected At A Church In Tamil Nadu State, India
Tamil Nadu, India: December 01, 2009, (PCTV Newsdesk)One of the walls in a room in a church belonging to the Church of South India (CSI) suffered minor damage in a suspected blast on November 29 at Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu state, India.
According to the national newspaper, The Hindu, the matter came to light when a church worker, Amirtharaj, opened the church on Sunday morning.
The police were called and a senior police officer inspected the spot and pressed into service some of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel and a sniffer dog.
According to the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), police have registered a case and are investigating it.
GCIC source also said that a hole was created on the wall and some chemicals were collected from the site and were being examined
The source added that police found some explosive near the spot, but refused to confirm or deny whether the wall got damaged due to an explosion or some other reason.
