Livelihood Program of Caritas Pakistan Lahore organized the seminar on the importance of Kitchen Gardening at Wandala Dayal Shaw, Shahdra Parish, Lahore on Feb 10, 2010.

Mr. Amir Rafiq (Diocesan Coordinator livelihood Program Caritas Pakistan Lahore) elaborated the importance of vegetables growing at household level. He encouraged the participants to grow vegetables at their homes in the pots, crates, roof, tray, dishes and baskets to not only save their money but also health of the family as vegetables from the market are expensive, pesticides affected and some times rotten. He also explained the nutritional value of the vegetables. Rev. Fr. Yaqoob Farooq (Parish Priest Shahdra) appreciated the task of Caritas, he emphasis the participants to sow the seeds and harvest fresh vegetables at their household level and taste the quality food.  Later on he distributed the seeds of Bitter Gourd, Spinach, Round Gourd and Okra to the 60 Participants with help of Area Animator Latif Rehmat.
