Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan organized four days training programs in Karachi

Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) organized four days training programs on 28th – 31st January 2010 at Franciscan Friary – Karachi. This program was organized to train ministers of the Word of God. More than 40 Participants attended the program. Participants were from the prefecture of Quetta, Diocese of Hyderabad and Archdiocese of Karachi.

The solemn opening took place on thursday 28th. January 2010 with the Eucharistic celebrations presided over by Archbishop Evarist Pinto Archbishop of Karachi and Chairperson Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan. He emphasized on the spreading of Word of God. He told about propositions of Bishop Synod 2008. He congratulated the Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) to organize such different programs on the theme of Word of God.

Fr. Emmanuel Asi Executive Secretary Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) wished the blessings and happiness of New Year 2010 and welcomed the all participants. He spoke on the background and objectives of training Sessions. He emphasized on revolutionary change come by the “Dei Verbum” from the sixteen documents of Vatican Council II (1965- 1968). He emphasized on spreading the Word of God. Archbishop Evarist Pinto presided the sessions. He laid stress on to open Bible schools and centers.

On 29 January,  early in the morning participants gathered in groups and meditated on the Word of God. Mr. Faheem Fredrick spoke on the topic “Translations and Languages”He told that Holy Bible was not translated over night. By translations it came to know how long Society had been used the Language. He said that it was very necessary to translate the word of God. He urged   the participants to do exegesis of the Word of God. He shown different texts of Holy Bible on multimedia. He taught about “Synatic” Greek Bible Text 1600 years old.

Fr. Emmanuel Asi spoke on the topic “Contemporary Civilizations of Holy Bible”. He said there were wisdom of civilization, Golden rules, traditions of ancestors and rituals of culture in every civilization which has no any connection to religion. He told about early civilizations of Holy Bible.He spoke on another topic “Important Periods, Personalities and Places.

Fr. Patrick Samuel OFM Cap spoke on “ Introduction, Important Parts and organization of Holy Bible. He said Moses was a central personality of  Old testament and Jesus was in New Testament.

H. E Bishop Max Rodrigues Bishop of Diocese of Hyderabad celebrated the Eucharistic celebrationsOn 30th January Early in the morning participants gathered and meditated on the Holy Bible. Mr. Shaukat Pervaiz Bhatti spoke on the topic “Different Methods of Lectio Divina “. He emphasized to adapt the Holy Bible by practically. He told the method how to study Word of God and how to conceive It.

Fr. Anjou Soares spoke on the topic “Various Method of Bible Study”. He said without Bible No one could be animator of the Holy Bible. He told detail of daily recitations according to Liturgically calendar.

Mrs. Afshan Eram spoke on the theme of “Divine Mission of Holy Bible in the life of family” she urged that we would bring Holy Bible in our family. She told to tell stories of Holy Bible to your children and family members. Very Rev. Fr. Victor Gnanapragasam OMI presided the Eucharistic Celebrations.

On 31st January, Participants gave the recommendations and promised to spread and inhale the Holy Bible in their lives. Participation certificates were distributed among the participants.

The solemn closing of training sessions was   with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Anjou Soares Diocesan Delegate of Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP).
