Pakistan Christian: Shazia murder case - Bails granted to Mohammad Naeem and co-accused by Additional Sessions Judge, Lahore - CLAAS
Lahore, Pakistan: February 18, 2010, (PCTV Newsdesk)On February 13, 2010, the Additional Sessions Judge Mr. Shafique-ur-Rehman has been granted bail to the main accused in Shazia case Chaudhry Mohammad Naeem and also confirmed pre-arrest bails of his wife Mrs. Ghazala Naeem and his son Haris Naeem and his sister-in-law Rubi. The court also directed all the accused persons to furnish bail bonds of Rs 200,000 each. When the proceedings started on Saturday February 13, 2010, the complainant’s lawyers were forced to withdraw their power of attorney as a large number of lawyers had gathered inside the courtroom in support of Naeem. They pressurized and harassed the CLAAS lawyers. There was very tough situation of CLAAS Lawyers but they were determined and contest the bails of Mohammad Naeem etc.
The Court also granted Post – Arrest bail to Amanat, middle – man allegedly involve in child labor.
It further held that two different medical reports had established that Shazia did not die due to physical torture rather she was suffering from a dangerous infectious disease. The Judge held that the applicability of Section – 302 PPC was shrouded in mystery while Section 34 PPC was bail able in nature.
CLAAS’ lawyers from the complaint side sought time for the case but the court refused to accept their plea.
On February 15, 2010 after getting the post arrest bail Mohammad Naeem went to the Session’s Courts with crowd of High Court lawyers and has been chanting slogans against CLAAS lawyers and calling their names for contesting bails of Naeem and other’s. Chaudhry Naeem and other lawyers challenged that complainant and complainant’s lawyers can do nothing in this case because Naeem is influenced person.
Now, CLAAS is going to contest Naeem’s bail in the High Court next week on the behalf of complaint Nasreen Bibi Shazia‘s mother. After the grant of bails to Naeem and co-accused from the Sessions Court Lahore we are not expecting the fair decision of the High Court Lahore as well, but CLAAS will be fighting for justice for Shazia's parents as long as possible.
You are requested to pray for the judges for a fair trial and right decision in this case, for CLAAS lawyers for their safety, courage and wisdom to contest this case.
