Caritas Pakistan Lahore organized a seminar on women’s day on March 8, 2010 at Trindade Hall organized in collaboration with Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat. Theme of the seminar was “Equal rights, Equal opportunities and progress for all”. Program started with the prayer by Ms Saima Francis. Rev Fr. Inayat Bernard (Diocesan Executive Secretary of Caritas Pakistan Lahore) welcomed all the participants, in his massage he said if we use our abilities to splendid the other people’s abilities then it will result in a positive way. Ms Anila Jacolin Gill (National Executive Secretary of Caritas Pakistan, explained the objectives of the program. Mr. Amir Irfan( Head Red Department and National Coordinator for Livelihood program) elaborated the background of international women’s day and said that first time this day was celebrate on March 8, 1913 . He also highlighted the 12 years old Shahzia case that the injustices are going on till date.
Resource person Ms Riffat Javed Khalon (Ex- MNA from Muslim League Q group) highlighted the difficulties faced by Pakistani women. She also shared her personal experience. Participants from Samanabad and Shahdra parishes presented a tableau about importance of women education.
Ms Rani Bibi and Mr. Ilyas Masih from Shepherd Society shared their views about women role. At the end Mr Masqood Francis (Animation Coordinator of CPL) thanked Fr. Inayat Bernard,Ms Anila Gill, Ms Raffit and all participants. Ms Reeba Khurshid and Ms Mariam Saleem were the facilitators of the seminar.
