Lahore, Pakistan: March 20, 2010, (PCTV Newsdesk)
Fr. Patrick Mc Caffrey SSC and Raza William Coordinators of Waqat Ki Awaz
From 2005 The Columban fathers broadcast weekly programme Waqat Ki Awaz (voice of the time) regularly with the purpose of formation and social harmony among the religions in Pakistan on every Friday afternoon from Radio Pakistan Lahore centre at MW 630kw from03.10-03.40.p.m. and from Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi centre at FM 98.
In the recent programme aired on 19th March, 2010 the topic Effective role of mothers in Pakistan society.
The Anchor person was Anila Saleem and the participants in the discussion were Sr. Genevieve Ramlal SCJM, Sofia Bedar (Deputy Director Punjab Arts Council). Both were aos participant in the 5th March program with the slightly different topic, Mother=92s role in bringing up the kids
Both Sr. Geneieve Ramlal and Sofia Bedar Sofia talked about the syllabus being taught in the religious institutions of the country. They reflected upon the extra-curricular activities being carried out in such institutions and shared their concern that the parents have a serious responsibility to check their kids as it is revealed that some of the religious institutions are promoting negative activities.
It was further discussed and observed that the parents only come to know about such activities when their children are brain washed and already join the anti country and anti-human activities. When the parents come to know that their children have joined the terrorist groups then they repent and it is too late.
It was resolved at the end of the discussion that the service to the society is the responsibility of the parents to regularly keep a track on the activities of their kids.
With the vast radio broadcast experience Fr. Colm Murphy SSC was the initiator of this radio program and after his return to Ireland in Mary,2009, Fr. Patrick took this responsibility.
