Caritas Pakistan Multan Celebrated Earth Hour 2010

On Earth planet the life was very smooth and calm in the past few decades but now is facing many challenges of survival for the livelihood in which the Climate Change is also the burning issue, talking on this major challenge Mr. Samuel Clement Executive Secretary of Caritas Pakistan Multan had said that we have to respect the nature and the resources provided by God. Respecting the global campaigns from various developmental organizations Caritas Pakistan Multan had celebrated Earth Hour on the March 27, 2010 on the call of International Community by abandoning all use of electricity in the offices as well as in the houses jointly with the positive and promote efforts of our Office workers, Children, Youth Groups and Volunteers who are working in the 12 Districts of the Southern Punjab Pakistan. He further shared the history of the Earth Hour in the Pakistan that Caritas Pakistan Multan is celebrating the earth hour for the first time to show solidarity with WWF Pakistan.



Earth Hour is a global WWF climate change initiative.  Individuals, businesses persons, governments and communities are invited to turnoff their lights for one hour on Saturday March 28, 2009 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 pm to show their support for action on climate change.  The event began in Sydney in 2007, when 2 million people switched off their lights. In 2008, more than 50 million people around the globe participated. In 2009, Earth Hour aims to reach out to 1 billion people in 1,000 cities.

In past years 50 million people took part in the Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities, towns and municipalities in 88 countries officially switched off to show support for action on climate change, making Earth Hour 2009 the largest voluntary action in history and the world’s largest global climate change initiative.
