Livelihood Program of Caritas Pakistan Karachi organized the Training of Trainers for fuel-efficient smokeless stove technology in Noor Muhammad Goth

The livelihood program of Caritas Pakistan Karachi organized the Training of trainers for fuel-efficient smokeless stove technology on 27th of March, 2010 at Noor Muhammad Goth area of ST. Jude’s Parish. In which women with area catechist and animator were participated
The aim of the training program was to save the environment and minimize deforestation and improve the health of the women through promoting the fuel-efficient smokeless stove technology.
Mr. Mansha Noor (Focal person for livelihood program) said that according to the international research report finding said that one woman inhale 20 packets of cigarettes amole during preparing three time food for their family on traditional stove. This smoke which she inhaled during the cooking causes of different diseases specially the concern of lungs eye diseases and skins disease are prominent among the women.
He shared the hazards of the traditional stoves, which were smoke of he stove polluting the house environment more wood is used for fire / cooking purpose. The utensils are more blackish and more time used to wash these blackish utensils. The economic burden on the family to buy wood for cooking purpose is increased. Women have no time to care their children or do other worker of their family.The smoke of the traditional stove increased the gas emission in the atmosphere, dirty and polluted kitchen all the time and effect on the women and children health
He also shared the benefits of the fuel-efficient stove which were smoke free cooking environment. 50% less wood used fort he cooking in fuel-efficient stove. The utensils are not blackish and less time for wash. The gas emission in the atmosphere is decreased to save our environment through using the fuel-efficient for food cooking. The kitchen is clean & neat and fire chances are less or minimized. The women and children health is improved and decreased the disease of concern of lungs eye diseases and skins disease among the women and children.
After the hazards of the traditional stove and benefits of the fuel-efficient smokeless stove the facilitator shared the map, Tool Kit and media of the fuel-efficient smokeless stove technology among the participants. The facilitator selected five women to make the fuel-efficient stove and all the others participants were asked to observe and learnt the method of making fuel-efficient stove.The participants learnt the structure of the fuel-efficient stove and make the fuel-efficient stove through learning by using method and made the fuel-efficient stove.
