Provision of clean water for kids stresses in Silakot

A walk of school kids was organzed at St. Joseph’s Church. Murray College Road, Sialkot. Over 100 children participated in the walk starting from the college Road and ending at the compound of the Catholic Church.
Fr. Francis Nadeem, the chief organizer and the parish priest while welcoming the guests said that that the purpose of the program is to provide the clean water to the citizens of Sialkot city. He asked the TMO to provide the clean water. He stressed the point to make planning for the benefit of the people.
Fr. Inayat Bernard said that when God created there was water everywhere and the spirit of the Lord was on the waters. This water was created for human beings to live a healthily life. He asked the teachers and kids to ensure the usage of clean water in their home and schools.
Abdul Hameed Qasim, Tehsil Muncipal Officer sadia while talking to the students that 82 tube well. 700.000. He said that their bore is 500 feet deep and water quality is perfect but the supply lines are more than 30 years and they are rusted. We need to change the supply lines. This project, he continued, is being given to Asian Development Bankand will be implemented by the Planning and Development of Punjab. From 30th March the ADB team is going to begin their office in Sialkkot.
The office will be set in Sialkot Fort and the building is ready for their use. The major component is the sanitation and clean water. The main supply lines will be changed in the next 2 and half years. The survey, planning and the actual work I soon to begin.
The proposal is to have the underline but in the streets it will be over the ground so that to check the repairs to be done. 30 to 40 million dollars are on the way for this particular project. He talked about another factor that due to the load shedding(Power failure) the supply is disrupted and despite our effort to provide water, we are unable to provide 24 hours service.

Which read as follows:
1. Factory owners are requested to keep in mind the health of the inhabitants of the city and try to organize their water.
2. Government is urged to make sure to build the treatment plant to ensure the provision of clean water.
3. The better coordination is requested between the factory owners and the Punjab government.
Fr. Afzaal thanked the organziers, teachers and kids and appreciated the plans of the local government. He said it is expected that our voice will reach to the higher ups and our people will be able to utilize clean water.
