The Livelihood Program of Caritas Pakistan Karachi promoted the Kitchen gardening at household level ensuring availabilities of fresh vegetable to a family.
Kitchen gardening awareness seminars and post cultivation methods of kitchen gardening were organized at Nasrat Nagar area of St. Jude’s Parish s and Ghaziabad area of St. Luke’s Parish on 17th and 19th of April, 2010. In which 45 community women and male members were participated in these seminars.
Mr. Mansha Noor focal person of Livelihood Program was the resource person and he said that objective of Post Cultivation Methods of Kitchen gardening was to empowerment of the community women, water conservation, and Nutrient requirement of the body, climate Change relationship and to avoid chemicals use organic food. He further said that the aim of the Kitchen gardening was to promote production of healthy vegetable for self-consumption and eat chemical- free vegetable to improve the health and nutrition of those who cannot afford pricey basic commodities.
He concluded his speech and said that we should promoted kitchen gardening at household level ensuring availability of fresh vegetable to a family as per their need and choice.
The after the speech demonstration sessions on post cultivation methods was held and community members took keen interest in making the post cultivation model by themselves with the help of the resource person.
The seminars were organized with the help of the area Animators ms. Nafeesa Wilson and Suleman Gill.
