Caritas Pakistan Lahore organized Environment Day at Pakistan Christian Blind Society
Lahore, Pakistan: June 21, 2010, (PCTV Newsdesk)Livelihood Program of Caritas Pakistan Lahore celebrated the Environment Day with Collaboration of Pakistan Christian Blind Society on June 20, 2010 to elaborate the importance of Environment. The program was started with the name of Almighty Lord by Edwin Das (Student of Blind Society). The students of the blind Society presented a fabulous Tableau and a song related to Environment. St. Paul Choir Green Town (Lahore) and St. Alfounas Choir Samanabad (Lahore) presented two songs each related to good Environment. Mr. Edwin Iqbal (Supervisor Pakistan Christian Blind Society) described the aims and objectives of the program. He also described the working of the blind society. Mr. Boota Hassan presented a poem related to Environment.
Mr. Amir Rafiq (Coordinator Livelihood Program Caritas Pakistan Lahore) highlighted the importance of Ozone layer in the Human Beings. He also described the structure of the Earth. He explained the increasing %age of Carbon Dioxide damaging the Environment. He stressed the participants to plant the sapling, to avoid usage of plastic bags and properly dump the waste material. Professor Earnest Dulvy (Forman Christian College Lahore; Chief Guest of the event) explained the causes of deforestation which leads to the climatic changes. He added it is our responsibility to save our mother land for the next generation. Rev. Fr. Joseph Louis thanked the participants and honorable guests. He stressed the participants to spread the message of the event to their relatives, friends and neighbours.
He requested the participants to discourage the use of plastic bags. Stickers and Pamphlets related to Environment were distributed among 117 participants. Mr. Nadeem and Mr. David Iqbal facilitated the program.
