Awareness Walk on Climatic Changes
Lahore, Pakistan: July 26, 2010, (PCTV Newsdesk)Archbishop of Lahore Dr. Lawrence John Saldanha stressed the people to take part in activities like growing trees and dumping of waste material on the occasion of awareness walk on Climatic Changes on July 25, 2010 at Trindade Hall Caritas Pakistan Lahore 1 – Temple Road Lahore
Earlier awareness walk on the Global warming and Climatic Changes was conducted from St. Anthony’s High School Lawrence Road to 1 – Temple Road Lahore. The Program was started with the prayer by Mr. Maqsood Francis. Songs related to Environment were presented by St. Paul Choir Green Town. Mr. Ayub Nicholas (Head Programs Caritas Pakistan Lahore) welcomed all the guests and participants. Mr. Amir Rafiq (Manager Livelihood Program Caritas Pakistan Lahore) described the %age of gases in the atmosphere. He added that %age of Carbon Dioxide is increasing day by day which leads to high temperature, global warming, climatic changes and destruction of ozone layer. Most rev. Bishop Sebastian Shaw emphasis the participants to reduce the use of plastic bags as they take more time to recycle. He also highlighted the awful affects of the pollution. Rev. Fr. Joseph Louis (Executive Secretary Caritas Pakistan Lahore) thanked Archbishop of Lahore Dr. Lawrence John Saldanha, Most Rev. Bishop Sebastian Shaw and 250 participants. He added that we have to very careful while tackling the raw material and should properly dump the waste material avoid burning of waste material. Mr. Saleem Raza and Ms. Saima played the role of Master of Ceremony while Mr. Naeem Naz, Mr. Nadeem Siddique, Mr. Aneel Gill, Mr. Salman Yousaf and Mr. Fiaz facilitated the walk and program.
