Arooj-e-Mariam Catholic Church organized a 3-Day Training Workshop on “Capacity Building” at Centre for Peace and Harmony in Faisalabad from 30th July to 1st August 2010. Father Nisar Barkat (Director-NCJP), Peter Shahzad (Program Coordinator-AWARD), Christina Peter (Chairperson-AWARD), Zimran Munir (DOER Trust), Aqsa Kanwal and Naila Arooj were among the facilitators of the training. The contents of the training included: facilitation & presentation skills, community organizing, communication skills, report writing, project writing and monitoring & evaluation.
Father Nisar Barkat said, “It is imperative to enhance the skills and abilities of youth in order to build a developed society, so that youth could drive our country to the way of progress through utilization of their talent and capabilities.” “Since youngsters are the backbone for any nation, therefore it is impracticable for any country to achieve progress without involving youth in the development process; young generation is given fewer opportunities in Pakistan that is why youngsters feel themselves misfit to play their part in the growth of the county; it is need of the hour to guide young generation in a better way so that they could become serviceable citizens of the society,” he added.
