Christian Group Encourages Prayer Through Ramadan
International: August 14, 2010, (PCTV Newsdesk)As Muslims around the world begin to celebrate Ramadan, Christian ministries are taking time to reach out to those who follow Islam.
Ramadan is Islam's holiest month and marked by weeks of prayer and fasting from sun up to sun down.
The "30-Days Prayer Network" offers a month-long prayer guide for Christians to coincide with Ramadan. The group's online resources helps Christians pray for Muslims, their leaders, and for the Church in the Islamic world.
One example on the Web site gives information on Syria, describing how more than 90 percent of the country does not know Jesus.
Five "prayer starters for Syria" are then listed. A few include asking that God will "raise up local evangelists from Christian and Muslim backgrounds to reach out" and that the government will "reign so that believers may live peaceful and quiet lives."
Creators of the 30-Days Prayer Network describe the group as a "mixture" of Christians from 149 countries and different denominations, all with the goal to "motivate and inspire" other Christians to pray for non-believers
