– The internal storage capacity of iPhone phones varies with different models. However, full storage capacity is highly to be expected especially if you keep high quality photos and 4K videos as well as install many apps.
And you can face great difficulty in operating the phone because full storage space is always offset by slow operation of the phone and opening applications.
Deleting unimportant photos and making sure you have backups before doing so is essential to maintaining optimal iPhone performance.
Back up your photos
Just storing photos in your iPhone is a double-edged sword. On the one hand it can be accessed offline. But on the other hand if you lose your phone or it stops working then you lose everything.
And for that. Taking a backup of these photos via iCloud is important. To do that, follow these steps:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Select the photos option.
Toggle the button next to iCloud Photos to On.
This loads the entire photo library in your iCloud account and syncs it across your devices.
And you must have enough storage space in iCloud to save photos and videos.
Optimize iPhone Storage
It may take a long time to upload your photo library to iCloud depending on the speed of your internet connection. But once you’re done, you can activate the option to optimize your phone’s photo storage to help you free up some storage space in your device.
To do this, follow these steps:
Open the Settings app on the phone.
Click on the General option and then select the Storage option.
Toggle the button next to Optimize Images to On.
This significantly reduces storage requirements by saving lower-quality versions of your photos and videos to the phone and leaving the higher-quality versions in iCloud.
Manually delete photos and videos
Sometimes you may want to keep some photos and clips in your phone. However, you can manually delete items you no longer need.
The video library is a good place to start as videos often take up a lot of storage space.
And to do so. Follow the following steps:
Open the Photos app on the iPhone.
Click on the Albums tab.
On the screen that appears you can select the videos and photos you want to delete.
You can also search the library by subject, person, year and other criteria.
Once the items are selected, tap the trash can icon at the top right of the screen to delete them.
Your selected photos and videos are permanently deleted from all your other devices as well when the sync option is turned on.
Backup before deleting photos from iPhone
If your iCloud storage space is full, you can copy your photos and videos to your computer. By connecting the phone to your computer using a USB cable, and then importing photos and videos to the Photos application on the computer.
You can also share photos and videos to other storage services like Google Drive or Dropbox before deleting them from the phone.
