The 9th edition of the Tripoli Film Festival kicks off on Thursday, with the participation of 49 feature films, shorts and documentaries, in addition to a number of films outside official competitions.
10 films from Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Italy, Argentina and Iran will compete in the Feature Film Competition, while the Feature Documentary Competition includes 7 films from Lebanon, Morocco, Guatemala, and France, in addition to 26 short films and 6 films in the Short Film Competition. moving.
The jury for the feature film competition is composed of Lebanese director Michel Kammoun, Palestinian producer May Odeh, and Lebanese actor George Khabbaz, while the documentary film competition committee is comprised of Jordanian director Muhammad Massad, Lebanese director Muriel Abu Al-Rous, and Lebanese actress Marie-Therese Maalouf.
The jury for the short film competition includes Lebanese actress Marwa Khalil, French producer Marine Vaian, and Lebanese director Sarah Kaskas.
At the opening, the festival will screen the film “Joy”, the first fiction work of its Jordanian director, Dareen Salam.
Film screenings will continue until September 29 at the Azm Cultural Center (Beit El Fan), the Shift Association, in addition to other locations.
In addition to film screenings and discussions, the festival’s program is organizing (Filmmakers’ Days), which include workshops, lectures and discussion sessions that bring together film professionals.
The festival also provides a platform for special funding for short film projects, and 5 projects from Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and Jordan compete for prizes in this cycle.
