Veteran Argentine star Lionel Messi will miss his team Paris Saint-Germain’s match against its host Monaco on Sunday in the 29th stage of the French Football Championship due to a cold, the capital club announced on Saturday.
He said on his official website that “Messi has been undergoing treatment for 48 hours for the flu.”
The Qatari-owned club, which tops the local league standings, added that veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos (calf) “will return to competitions after the (international) break, similar to his compatriot midfielder Andre Herrera, who recovered from an infection in his eye.”
Saint-Germain added that Argentine winger Angel Di Maria will also miss the match due to an injury to his thigh muscles, while Spanish fullback Juan Bernat will return to training next week and will not participate in the Monaco match.
Saint-Germain is moving strongly towards regaining the title that it grabbed from last season, as it leads by 15 points from Marseille, 10 stages before the end of “Ligue 1”.
