Ferro coach Mauricio Romero was shot in the shoulder during a match in the Argentine third division of football in the Mendoza region.
Sports newspaper Ole said that organized groups of fans linked to Huracán Las Heras quarreled among themselves during the match.
Video footage showed players from Huracán and rival Ferro de General Pico running for cover, while fans hid behind walls as gunfire rang out in the stadium.

A video clip showed Romero being treated for a wound to his shoulder and the club later said he had gone to hospital.
Ferro wrote on Twitter: “Romero is doing well and is out of danger. After leaving the stadium, he underwent examinations at a local hospital and is now giving a statement to the police.
Huracán said the fight was destroying the club. “Families have been kept out of stadiums for years,” he added in a Facebook post. We hope that everyone who harms the club will walk away so that the true fans can come back.
