A police department you probably don’t know: The Security Service has a lot of interesting cars at its disposal, from inconspicuous Škodas to luxury limousines

The Protection Service of the Police of the Czech Republic is a unit of national scope and international scope, whose mission is to protect persons appointed by a government decree. It mainly concerns constitutional officials other than the President of the Republic, who have their own security (another department).

Police officers need a variety of vehicles to protect people and buildings.

The service also protects foreign delegations in accordance with applicable international agreements, selected objects (Senate, Parliament, Embassies, diplomatic objects, etc.), other designated persons, and also solves, for example, analyzes of groups at risk, or protection against drones .

Performing truly diverse tasks, police officers need appropriate equipment, including vehicles with various registration marks, which, in addition to safety, are supposed to ensure comfort for the people being transported, representativeness or, on the contrary, inconspicuousness.

There is also an off-road police car in the fleet of the protective service.

In the garage of the protection service, there are not only luxury limousines, but also a variety of SUVs that serve as “workers”, which are multi-purpose vehicles designed to transport several people or off-road vehicles for tasks performed off-road.

We also got to the site and got acquainted in detail with the selected models available for the protection service. The fleet is indeed diverse, but there is a reason for that…

The BMW K 1600 GT features a powerful six-cylinder engine.

The machine’s transmission is six-speed, adaptive suspension, and ABS tilt. Given the weight of 319 kg, acceleration from zero to one hundred takes 3.2 seconds.

Jaguar XJ

The sedan from 2013, nicknamed the “Cat”, does not age, after all, just look at its eye-catching design. The joy does not end there, as the heart of the car’s driving is a three-liter, six-cylinder, compressor-assisted petrol engine that produces 340 horsepower.

Well, Mike is a total cat, don’t you think?

Torque of 450 Nm is transmitted through the eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, while the maximum speed of the car is 250 km / h. Acceleration from zero to hundreds is also impressive, the car takes 6.4 seconds.

Despite its age, the Jaguar still looks good-looking and drives mainly outwardly protected people. Although the car attracts attention in the streets, it is among the popular and widely used vehicles.

BMW X5

The Bavarian X5 series is usually seen as a luxury car, however, in the ranks of the protective service it is an ordinary worker, but decently equipped. SUVs are usually assigned to protect a moving VIP limousine in front of them and carry bodyguards.

The BMW X5 luxury SUV is more than just a worker in the ranks of the protective service.

Where SUVs can’t, off-roaders can.

The heart of this modern four-wheeled vehicle is a 300-horsepower, three-liter, six-cylinder diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The advantage of the model is also the changeability of the ground clearance, which will further support the off-road passability.

Shame on Kodiak

For example, the Kodiaqs (and Superbs) fleet protected the incumbent President Petr Pavel even before his inauguration. In addition, these cars are deployed to protect people in the short term and perform all kinds of tasks in which police officers take advantage of the fact that they easily blend with the crowd.

safety first

There are rumors about the unit of protective services of the Czech Republic Police that they have powerful vehicles primarily due to the need for maximum speed, however, according to their representatives, it is primarily about acceleration. The primary task of the department members is to ensure the safety of the people involved, not to get them to places in record time.

Not speed, but security. This is the tenet of protection service.

In any case, these are beautiful vehicles, but they are difficult to recognize in traffic. That is, until the hidden beacons are lit. This is when the models light up like Christmas trees and start exercising their legitimate right of way…
