Abiy Ahmed announces holding phone conversations with Al-Burhan and “Hamedti”: The people of Sudan deserve peace

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated, on Friday, that he had held telephone conversations with both the commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the commander of the “Rapid Support Forces”, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti.” On “The Need to Amicably Settle Disputes and Achieve Stability in Sudan”.

Abiy Ahmed said, via Twitter: “The great people of Sudan deserve peace. I held telephone conversations with both Major General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Major General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo about the need to settle differences amicably and achieve stability in Sudan.”

In Sudan, the official news agency (SUNA) said that Al-Burhan received phone calls from a number of presidents and officials, including the Ethiopian Prime Minister, as well as from the tripartite mechanism consisting of (the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD), and the quadruple mechanism that includes (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates).

During the calls, everyone expressed their “stand by Sudan, and stressed the need for the situation to return to normal,” according to “SUNA”.

And Hamidti mentioned, on Thursday, that he had received a call from Abi Ahmed, during which they discussed the current situation in Sudan.

Hemedti added, through his Twitter account: “Today I received a call from the Ethiopian Prime Minister, during which we discussed the current situation in our country and issues related to the crisis.”

He continued: “The Ethiopian Prime Minister stressed the importance of finding a solution to the crisis for the stability of Sudan and the region, expressing his full solidarity with the Sudanese people and supporting their options, expressing his country’s readiness to provide all assistance to overcome these circumstances.”

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that her country “has a strong desire for the Sudanese to solve their internal problems without external interference.”

“The people of Sudan have the ability to solve the internal problem,” said the ministry’s spokesman, Ambassador Meles Alem, in a press conference, according to the Ethiopian News Agency.

He pointed out that “many people have come to Ethiopia since the crisis in Sudan,” and pointed out that “Ethiopia provides humanitarian aid to foreigners who fled the conflict and entered its lands with its limited resources.”

“Just as Sudan stood by Ethiopia during Ethiopia’s difficult times, Ethiopia will also show its support during Sudan’s crisis,” he said.
