Argentine star Lionel Messi has returned to the training of Paris Saint-Germain, the leader of the French Football League, after he was suspended for traveling to Saudi Arabia without permission, according to what the Parisian club announced on Monday on its Instagram account.
“Leo is back in training Monday morning,” the club wrote, along with a picture of the Argentine world champion in training.
And Paris Saint-Germain decided on Tuesday to exclude Messi from the ranks of the team because of his trip to Saudi Arabia to participate in a promotional campaign, for which the “flea” was forced to apologize to the club in a short video clip posted on Instagram.
Messi said in Spanish, “I apologize to my colleagues and I am waiting for the club’s decision. I apologize to my colleagues and the club.”
Messi missed his team’s match on Sunday against his host Troyes (3-1), and therefore he can return to his squad next Saturday during his match against Ajaccio in the thirty-fifth stage at the Parc des Princes.
And Paris Saint-Germain is very close to retaining its league title and breaking the record for the number of titles it shares with Saint-Etienne (10 each), as it is six points away from its closest pursuer Lens, four stages before the end of the season.
Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier refused to comment on Messi’s case after the victory over Troyes on Sunday, and said, “I will give you the same answer that I said before the match: It is an internal matter, I have no comment on Leo.”
Messi, 35, is closer to leaving than extending his contract, which expires this summer, according to identical sources.
