Al-Faisaly faces Al-Ahly .. and a possible derby between Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup

The draw for the sixteenth round of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Football Cup, which was drawn, today, Monday, took place, Al-Faisali, the defending champion, against Al-Ahly, while Al-Taawon, the runner-up, faces its counterpart Al-Ta’i.

The draw also resulted in a confrontation between Al-Hilal, the champion of the previous version, with Al-Raed, while Al-Nasr plays with the agreement, and thus it will be expected to hold an early derby between Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr in the quarter-finals if they qualify, according to the Saudi sports newspaper.

The draw put Al-Ittihad in a difficult confrontation against Al-Fateh, which is the confrontation that is repeated between the two teams for the third time after Al-Fateh succeeded in excluding Al-Ittihad from the championship during the past two seasons, and Al-Shabab faces its counterpart Damak.

In the rest of the matches, Al-Hazm Al-Batin will face Al-Fayhaa, its counterpart Abha.

The round of 16 matches will be held between December 20 and 22, while the draw for the quarter-final matches is set in mid-February 2022, and the semi-final matches will be held in April, and the final date will be set at a later time.

It is noteworthy that participation in the competition is limited to the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Professional Cup League clubs, after the Saudi Football Association decided last April to continue to limit participation only to professional teams to compress the match calendar, and all matches are played in a single match knockout system.

This decision came due to the pressure of the matches schedule in conjunction with the final qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, in addition to the new Arab Cup that will be held under the umbrella of the International Football Association “FIFA”, which will be held next December in Qatar, in addition to the participation of Saudi clubs in the AFC Champions League. .
