Los Angeles (AFP) – British superstar Elton John and pop singer Britney Spears are uniting their vocals in a new song, the music company that will distribute it said Monday.
Interscope Records said the two singers will be co-stars for the song “Hold Me Closer”, but did not indicate a release date.
The title of this song, which will be Britney Spears’ first in years, is inspired by the lyrics of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” in the early 1970s.
This announcement came after news circulated in recent days about the possibility of cooperation between the two stars.
Spears recently lost her unborn baby due to a spontaneous abortion, according to what she announced with her partner Sam Asgari.
Her pregnancy was reported five months after a California court ordered the termination of her father’s guardianship, Jamie Spears.
Guardianship was imposed in 2008 due to psychological disorders suffered by the star, who described her father’s practice of this guardianship as “harmful”, which was especially evident by declaring that he prevented her from removing an IUD despite her desire to have more children.
The pop star, who has achieved great fame thanks to hit songs including “Baby One More Time”, has not made any press statements for years, and her public appearances are rare.
As for Elton John, who is famous for the song “The Rocket Man” and turned 75 a few months ago, he started 2018 as a farewell tour to end his career. The tour was originally attended by more than 300 concerts around the world, but was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
