Amendments to the Regulations for Visiting the Kingdom for the Purpose of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism has announced amendments to the Visit Visa Regulations for Tourism Purposes, which include expanding the eligible categories and providing options for those wishing to visit the Kingdom for tourism.

The Kingdom welcomes residents of the Gulf countries, Schengen visas, the United States and the United Kingdom and their residents as per the Revised Visit Visa Regulation for Tourism Purposes.

Gulf Cooperation Council countries

According to the Tourism Ministry, holders of residency visas in one of the countries of the Gulf Arab Cooperation Council can enter the Kingdom through an electronic tourist visa.

It states that the residence permit for those coming from GCC states is valid for a period of not less than 3 months.

He said this comes as per the occupations published on the electronic site and includes domestic workers who accompany the resident visa holder’s first-degree relatives and their sponsors.

Except for America and Europe

The revised regulation exempts holders of valid tourist or business visas from the United States, the United Kingdom or one of the Schengen countries.

The ministry explained that the amended regulation requires that a tourist or business visa from those countries must have been used at least once to enter the visa-issuing country.

Performing Umrah during Hajj

Exceptions: Permanent residents of the United States, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, including first-degree relatives of an accompanying resident, may obtain a visa to visit the Kingdom. Land, sea or air ports of the Kingdom.

The revised tourist visa regulation emphasized that tourists, while in the Kingdom, must comply with the regulations and instructions followed, including carrying identification documents at all times.

The ministry noted that tourist visas do not allow for Hajj and Umrah during Hajj season.
