An appeal to astronomy and space enthusiasts to prepare for Sunday, when the sky of the Arab world is observed as the conjunction of the planet Venus, the symbol of beauty, with the star of the defenseless fish.
This will take place on Sunday, September 5, 2021, when the conjunction of the planet Venus, the symbol of beauty, and the defenseless star Asmak on the southwestern horizon can be seen with the naked eye.
And the Saudi Press Agency quoted the head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Engineer Majed Abu Zahira, as saying that Venus will appear first about 45 minutes or before sunset.
He pointed out that it is the brightest and brightest planet than the defenseless fish, and as it goes deeper into the darkness of the night, the defenseless fish will appear near Venus, and the duo will be visible to the naked eye about 60 minutes after sunset.
And he said: “Asmach is the brightest star in the constellation Virgo, and it is one of the summer stars in the northern hemisphere of the Earth, and although it appears as a single point of light, it is in fact a binary star system about 240 light years away from our solar system.”
Abu Zahra reported that for those living in the far northern latitudes, Venus and the defenseless fish will follow the sun below the horizon shortly after its setting, as for those in the southern latitudes, the planet and star will remain above the horizon after dark night.
The President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah attributed the reason for this to the fact that at sunset and the beginning of the night on the evenings of September, the path of the sun, the moon and the planets is at its highest level during the year in the southern half of our planet, but in the northern half, the opposite happens, as the path of the sun decreases to its lowest level in this the time.
