NASA astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts will return to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS) next week, where two of them, American Mark Vande He and Russian Pyotr Dobrov, spent a total of 355 days in the orbital observatory, after their launch into space on April 5. from last year.
According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, astronaut Mark Vandy broke the record for the longest single spaceflight by an American astronaut, which had previously been recorded at 340 days.
The duo is scheduled to return with cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov from space on Wednesday, March 30, which was launched aboard the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft on October 5, 2021.
Vandey, Shkaplerov and Dubrov will move from the Rassvet module, before their Soyuz spacecraft heads for a parachute-assisted landing on the steppes of Kazakhstan, southeast of the remote city of Dzhezkazgan.
Coverage of the crew’s farewell, takedown and landing will be broadcast live on NASA TV, the US Space Agency’s website and the NASA App.
Vandey and Dubrov will also complete a 355-day mission covering 5,680 orbits around the Earth and more than 150 million miles. This is Vandey’s second spaceflight with a total of 523 days in space. This was Dubrov’s first flight, while Shkaplerov finishes his fourth mission with 708 cumulative days spent. in the space.
