Barcelona’s top sports officials are preparing to meet next week with a group of senior figures in the Spanish League to assess Lionel Messi’s return to the Catalan club.
Doubts persist about Messi’s fate with Paris Saint-Germain, due to the expiration of his contract with the French club next June without renewing it yet.
The Spanish newspaper “Sport” confirmed that Barcelona, led by Matteo Alemani, director of football affairs at the club, had drawn up a feasibility plan to reduce the salary limits set by the Spanish Federation in order to facilitate Messi’s registration.
The Catalan club expects to give La Liga the green light to facilitate the deal as soon as possible, but Joan Laporta, club president, needs to hear the final word from Javier Tebas, president of the La Liga association.
The newspaper pointed out that Tebas would greatly welcome this step, due to the enormous value that Messi holds, which will benefit the Spanish League in general.
It is worth noting that Rafa Yusti, deputy to Laporta, had previously gone out recently to confirm the existence of contacts in order to sign Messi in a free transfer deal after the end of his contract with Paris.
