Anthony Hopkins Best Actor at the European Film Awards

Eve: The 34th European Film Awards were handed out in Berlin on Saturday, in a virtual gala to honor the best of European cinema, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Hosted by German actress Annabelle Manding, the awards were originally supposed to be presented in person during the event, but with Omicron mutated from Covid-19 across Europe, a decision has been made to hold a virtual ceremony. Nominees, presenters, and winners participated in a mix of live, virtual and pre-recorded formats.

Anthony Hopkins Best European Actor

The Best Actor award went to the 83-year-old Anthony Hopkins, who won the European Actor Award – Best Actor – for his role in The Father, where he plays a man with dementia. A performance that actually won an Academy Award. Father director Florian Zeller and co-writer Christopher Hampton also won Best European Screenplay.

Best Film Award

Directed by Yasmila Zpanic, Quo Vadis, Aida? It won the first prize at the European Film Awards, where the film was named Europe Film of 2021. Zapanic also won the Best Director award. The film revolves around the massacre in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Among the films competing for the title of best film, the sad movie Compartment no 6, which revolves around a train journey, and Paolo Sorrentino’s The Hand of God about Naples in the eighties.
Other winners were Flee, an animated documentary about the CEO of the refugee experience produced by Riz Ahmed, which won Best Documentary and Best Animated Film, while Jasna Koricic won the European Actress Statue – Best Actress – for her role. In Quo Vadis, Aida?.
