Bayern Munich dismisses its coach, Julian Nagelsmann, and appoints Thomas Tuchel as his successor

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Bayern Munich decided to dispense with the services of technical director Julian Nagelsmann, and appoint Thomas Tuchel in his place, until June 2025.

The “Bavarian” stated, in a statement, on Friday, that the decision to dismiss the 35-year-old coach was taken by the CEO, Oliver Kahn, and a member of the board of directors, Hasan Salihamidzic, in consultation with the club’s president, Herbert Hainer.

Oliver Kahn told the club’s website: “When we signed with Nagelsmann we were convinced that we would work with him for the long term. This was our goal until the end. Julian shares our aspirations to play successful and attractive football.”

He added, “But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad decreases, after the World Cup, where we played less successfully and attractively.”

For his part, Hamidic said: “This was the most difficult decision in my life as a member of the board of directors for sports in Bayern. I have established an open and trusting friendship with Julian since day one.
