The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed Saturday that Beijing is looking forward to closer friendship and cooperation with Nicaragua.
In response to a question about the reopening of the Chinese Embassy in Nicaragua, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that on December 31, 2021 local time, the Chinese Embassy in Nicaragua held an official ceremony to reopen its embassy, explaining that all Chinese diplomats who worked in Nicaragua, Nicaraguan Government officials, local dignitaries from various circles, representatives from local Chinese institutions and communities, and representatives from foreign missions in Nicaragua attended the ceremony.
“After the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua, the two sides agreed to exchange the establishment of two embassies in each other as soon as possible,” Zhao Lijian added. The Chinese red flag with the five stars is raised again in Nicaragua after 31 years.”
“This proves once again that adhering to the one-China principle is a primary trend representing international justice and enjoys popular support,” he said, adding that “the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides, and is welcomed and supported by the two peoples.”
“China is ready to work with Nicaragua in promoting friendly exchanges, strengthening practical cooperation in various sectors, opening new horizons in bilateral relations, and rooting our friendship, so that the relations between the two countries and peoples will flourish and bear fruit,” he said.
