Whether you are intentional to lose weight or not, you must know what happens to your body if you eat one meal a day.
Dr. Pavel Isenbaev, a specialist in weight reduction, says that because of his busyness he has to eat one meal a day, instead of the usual 3-4 meals. Or he may follow intermittent fasting.
He adds, “If a person eats only one meal a day because of lack of time, this negatively affects the body. It leads to a weakening of the metabolism. Because in this case, the body will work in a rationing system, and try to build a strategic reserve of fats, due to the length of the fasting period.” Also, the person in this case tends to snacks – coffee or tea with biscuits and sweets. Because the majority do not consider it a meal, although the body gets the calories. And the person eats with his eyes as well. When he eats one meal per day, the amount of The food is usually larger than usual, meaning he overeats and quickly gets used to this eating pattern, which later leads to weight gain,” according to what was reported by “Russia Today”.
According to him, eating one meal aggravates health problems in the digestive system, such as ulcers, gastritis, and others, which require eating several small meals per day.
He adds that some people eat one meal a day in order to lose weight. This method is an extreme version of the intermittent fasting system. There are two systems of intermittent fasting: a “light” system, which means that a person does not eat for 16 consecutive hours, and in the remaining hours he can eat food. The “hard” regimen involves not eating for 23 hours in a row, and in the remaining hour he can eat it.
He says, “This system is suitable for a certain group of people: men under the age of 25, because it does not affect the metabolism much. As for women, intermittent fasting does not positively affect hormonal balance, and can cause early menopause. Women lose mass. The muscle mass is faster than the men. When they lose weight, they visually decrease due to the loss of muscle mass, while the fat layer remains unchanged.”
He adds, explaining, that the level of testosterone and growth hormone is high in men who have not reached the age of twenty-five, which helps to maintain muscle mass easily compared to women. But if a man suffers from digestive problems that require eating several small meals a day, then intermittent fasting will exacerbate these problems.
According to him, the meal should be balanced. But advocates of intermittent fasting often assume that you can eat whatever food you like and want for an hour a day, and your body will digest it normally.
He says, “A person must think, when eating one meal a day, about the substances he eats. That is, he must make sure that he gets the amount of dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats and carbohydrates, which are necessary for the body. And the idea of eating one meal allows not to think about food, It is a misconception, because in reality the person feels very hungry, and if he wants the meal to be beneficial to his health, he should not eat too much of it.”
