The British newspaper The Daily Mail reports that potatoes and chips continue to top Britain’s favorite fast foods.
One study found that it was the most wasted ready-made food, with most people claiming to throw away old foods rather than eating them later.
72% of people surveyed by a delivery service called Just Eat said there were always some potato chips left over and they would be thrown out quickly.
Wasting and not wanting to get close, most customers said they avoided the excess because they could not digest their old potato chips or were not sure if it was safe to reheat them.
Research by the Sustainable Restaurants Association has found that £ 1.8 billion worth of processed foods are discarded each year in the UK.
One study found that chips were the most wasted ready-made food, with most people claiming to eliminate old foods later than they used to.
The newspaper points out that the initiative came from the Waste and Resources Foundation Program (WRAP), which is the most wasted food potato in the UK, wasting 4.4 million every day.
Several social campaigns in the United Kingdom have called on citizens to stop wasting at least 30% of their food in the coming months and to focus on the global food crisis.
