SEOUL, March 24 (Yonhap) — K-pop star BTS member Jimin will release his first official album as a solo artist on Friday.
“Face,” which is set to be released at 1 p.m., consists of six tracks — both Korean and English versions of the lead single “Like Crazy,” “Face-off,” “Interlude: Dive,” “Alone,” and “Set.” Me Free Pt.2″, according to the group’s agency Big Hit Music.
The album was produced by a number of talented musicians, such as Pdogg, Supreme Boy, GHSTLOOP, EVAN, BLVSH, and James Chris, in addition to the leader of the team, RM.
The agency said that the upcoming album depicts Jimin facing himself and preparing for a fresh start as a soloist after the pandemic. She added that the lead single, “Like Crazy”, is a pop song that combines intense drum and synth sounds with its plaintive timbre.
On Wednesday, Jimin released an official teaser video for the song, which begins with a close-up of his eye before showing him sitting alone at a kitchen table with flashing lights. When power is restored after a brief outage, the star is now in a dimly lit room, staring deeply, directly into the camera.
A week before the album’s scheduled release, the dancing singer released the second part of “Set Me Free Pt. 2,” a hip-hop number about his decision to move forward freely, without being bound by feelings like pain, sadness, and alienation.
And the song ranked first on the iTunes Top Songs charts in 110 countries, including Britain, Canada, Italy and Finland the next day, according to the agency.
The 27-year-old is the fourth member of the group to make a solo debut after the group announced a hiatus to pursue solo projects last year. RM, Jin, and J-Hope have so far all presented solo projects.
Ji Min debuted in 2013 as a member of the 7-art group, and showed his unique colors with his songs “Lie” and “Serendipity,” two singles that were included on BTS’ albums, as well as “With You.” off the original soundtrack to the popular TV drama Our Blues and the first self-written song, Promise.
Recently, he collaborated with Big Bang singer Taeyang on “Vibe”.
Jimin will appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to talk about “Face” on Thursday (US time) and hold the first live performance of the album’s title track on Friday.
