The fastest SUV at the Nürburgring
There is usually time in the North Lube of the Nürburgring to talk about the capabilities of sports cars. However, we must get used to the fact that customers and therefore car manufacturers consider some versions of their SUVs to be sporty. The latest clue is Porsche, which has sent its test driver Lars Kern to the famous track in a slightly camouflaged, but serial form of its new Cayenne. He completed a 20,832 km circuit in 7:38,925, thus entering a new Cayenne as a record holder in the SUV, off-road, pickup and pickup categories.
“At first I wanted to turn around after a few meters and make sure I was actually sitting in a spacious SUV,” said Lars Kern after a record attempt. “The incredibly precise steering and a very quiet rear axle gave me a lot of confidence in the car in the Hatzenbach division. On both horizontals the Pflanzgarten usually loses contact with the track surface, but the Cayenne has a long way to absorb the shocks and everything was quiet.
The standard car was based on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe, but was equipped with a racing seat and safety frame. It is fitted with 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires developed specifically for the new Cayenne and which this model will receive as standard. The time was set on June 14 at 11:31, the track temperature was 46 degrees Celsius, and the air temperature was 23 degrees Celsius.
