Italian Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Spanish club Real Madrid, refused to enter into a comparison with the French former coach Zinedine Zidane.
Ancelotti prepares with real Madrid To host the Moldovan Sherif Tiraspol, on Tuesday, at the Santiago Bernabeu, in the second round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Ancelotti commented on the comparison between him and Zidane, after the French coach led the royal team to the Champions League title 3 times in a row.
“I do not want to compare the current team with the team led by Zidane, who did the best he could and won the Champions League in 3 consecutive seasons,” the Italian coach said in his statements.
He explained: “I hope to achieve the same, I would like to win the Champions League with the team again, not 3 times as he did.”
Ancelotti believes that the incentive to win the championship is always the same, pointing out that the riyal has something special about this tournament, describing it as the most complex tournament, but he stressed that this club is more accustomed than others to winning it, and therefore has a slight advantage.
Ancelotti indicated that he was not surprised by the criticism that was raised after the team drew with Villarreal in the Spanish league, last Saturday, and considered that criticism helps to improve the level.
Ancelotti talked about his veteran Croatian player Luka Modric, saying that he was happy with what he was doing, adding that he had a slight injury and returned well.
And he added: “I must bear in mind that he is thirty-six years old, and reducing his participation by 10 minutes per match may protect him from injuries in the future.”
He concluded: “Everyone in the team will be useful to Real this season. We do not have a starting lineup and a backup lineup, but we have an integrated and competitive team.”
