Algerian singer Cheb Khaled issued a statement announcing his intention to sue producer and concert organizer Walid Mansour.
Cheb Khaled posted his statement on Instagram and commented: “You can steal everything except art, this is a message to artists around the world.”
In his statement to the officials in Egypt, Cheb Khaled said: “God knows the extent of my love, pride and appreciation for the beloved Egypt’s leadership and people, given that Egypt is my second country and has special love and dignity in my heart.”
He explained: “On 9/11/2021, I contracted to hold a concert at the JW Marot Hotel for the Nakheel Company, and a contract was signed with the Talent WM Advertising Company, represented by Mr. Walid Jamal Mansour Shaalan, and his fame is the producer Walid Mansour.”
Cheb Khaled added: “The ceremony was held without being held accountable and without receiving the full wage agreed upon by the producer and responsible for organizing the ceremony, Mr. Walid Mansour, and despite the existence of a contract between me and his company, but with great regret he has been procrastinating and has taken over the rest of my agreed wages. Accordingly, he did not transfer the rest of the remaining amount, and since that date, talking to him has become a form of procrastination, marketing and non-compliance with promises, and I have only heard from him false promises of payment, but to no avail.
And the statement continued: “Therefore, I decided to take legal measures against him. The office of legal counsel, Yasser Kantoush, the lawyer in cassation, was contacted, to take legal measures against Mr. Walid Mansour, after she submitted a complaint to the Syndicate of Musical Professions, to no avail.”
