Coal production in the UK rose to its highest level in a month, with wind production falling and morning demand rising, Bloomberg News reported yesterday.
Coal units operated by the Crox Group, Unipur and Electricity de France operated this morning, bringing the total power generation from coal burning to 1,493 MW, which is equivalent to 3% of demand.
At yesterday’s auction, energy prices hovered above 1,000 per megawatt-hour today, with coal production booming as natural gas prices continued to rise.
Royal Bank of Canada Europe, “In the midst of rising gas prices, we may increase the reliability of coal-fired power generation in the short term.”
It is noteworthy that energy prices in Europe recently rose to record levels, amid expectations that the shortage of goods will increase further as winter begins.
