Dr. Ayat Nashwan was appointed to head the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the Faculty of Arts at Yarmouk University.
Dr. Nashwan is the first academic to hold the position of Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Yarmouk University.
And Dr. Nashwan is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Yarmouk University, and she is the first academic to hold the position of Director of the Center for Studies of Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration at Yarmouk University in the year 2018-2019.
Dr. Nashwan received her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Social Work, in the United States of America.
Dr. Nashwan identifies her main research interest as social work with immigrants and refugees, in addition to her responsibilities in the field of education.
Nashwan has also worked in leadership positions in disaster health care clinics serving Syrian refugees inside and outside the camps, and has many internationally funded projects from reputable international organizations and destinations and has presented research in many local, regional and international conferences.
Dr. Ayat Nashwan was also selected as a member of the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, a multidisciplinary scientific journal emanating from the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies in Canada, and focusing on social and humanitarian issues in the Middle East and North Africa regions.
