Egypt and Lebanon are the largest participants in the El Gouna Film Festival

El Gouna Film Festival revealed the participation of 16 Arab films in its upcoming fifth session, scheduled to be held from 14 to 22 October.

The list of 16 Arab films includes 7 Egyptian films and 9 Arab films. From Egypt, the film “feathers” participates in the feature film competition, and the film has previously won the Grand Prize for the Critics’ Week competition and the Febreci Prize at Cannes 2021.

In the same competition, the film “Princess” directed by Mohamed Diab, with the participation of an Egyptian-Jordanian, was shown for the first time internationally at the Venice Film Festival 2021, and the film “Captains of Zaatari” directed by Ali Al-Arabi participates in the competition for long documentaries.

In the same competition, the documentary “The Return”, directed by Sarah El-Shazly, will participate, and in the official selection section – outside the competition, the film “Moon 14” directed by Hadi El-Bagouri will participate.

As for the short film competition, two films from Egypt will participate, namely “Khadija” directed by Murad Mustafa, and the second film “Cairo – Berlin”, directed by Ahmed Abdel Salam.

The Lebanese presence

From Lebanon, he participates in the feature film competition, the movie “The Sea Before You,” directed by Elie Dagher. Also participating from Lebanon in the same competition are the movie “Costa Brava” directed by Mona Akl, and the movie “The Blue Prisoners” directed by Zina Daccache.

In the short film competition, the film “Tallahassee”, directed by Darine Hoteit, is participating from Lebanon and the United States of America, and from Morocco, the feature film “Ali Your Voice” directed by Nabil Ayouch is participating in the feature film competition.
