Egypt vs Senegal | Magdy Abdel-Ghani, the black dot on the night of the pharaohs’ joy

Magdy Abdel-Ghani, the former star of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, raised many controversies on the Egyptian football scene on the sidelines of his presence in the meeting between Egypt and Senegal in the African qualifiers for the World Cup.

The Egyptian national team achieved a difficult victory with a single goal against its Senegalese counterpart in the match that was held yesterday, Friday, at the “Cairo International Stadium”, in the framework of the first leg of the final qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Several pages on the social networking site circulated a video clip showing Magdy Abdel Ghani’s attack on a security officer at the gates of the Cairo Stadium, which hosted the meeting of the Pharaohs and the Lions.

After the video spread clearly, the former Al-Ahly and Egyptian national team player decided to respond through a statement on his personal account on the social networking site “Facebook”.

Abdel-Ghani wrote: “In the beginning, I confirm that my presence yesterday at Cairo Stadium was to support and support our national team, at the kind invitation of the Egyptian Football Association, among a group of Egyptian football stars throughout history.”

He added, “I am always honored and proud of what I have provided for my great country over the years and years in the stadiums, during which I did not skimp on a point of sweat, and I always sought to raise the flag of Egypt in all Arab, African and international championships.”

The former Red Genie star explained: “I went to Cairo Stadium with a permit to enter me by car, due to the large distance between the gate and the runway, especially since I had surgery in the joint, and I was not able to walk on foot all this distance.”

And he added, “But I was surprised by one of the stadium workers who refused to let me enter the car, and treated me inappropriately at all, and did not suit my age in the first place, and my position and history in the second as a former international player who gave a lot and a lot to Egyptian football.”

And he continued, “I certainly did not mean to insult anyone, but the inappropriate method that I found from this employee was shocking to me and rejected at the same time, and I could not allow it, and I did not find any justification for him at all.”

He continued, “I affirm my respect and appreciation for all the organizations organizing this great and honorable event, and I salute all the security agencies that always work for the security and safety of Egypt and the Egyptians, and yesterday they presented us with a model for the new republic we live in, moment by moment.”

Abdul-Ghani concluded his statement: “In the end, I congratulate our national team on achieving victory, and I pray to God that the task is successfully completed by ascending to the World Cup to realize the dream of the great Egyptian people.”

No one denies the role of security in directing yesterday’s match between Egypt against Senegal in this wonderful way, but Magdy Abdel Ghani’s shot is a black point in a night of joy for the Egyptian people.
