ABU DHABI, 7th March, 2023 (WAM) — Rashid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Football Company at Al Wahda Club, confirmed the club’s aspiration to compete for the best results in the “King Salman Cup” for clubs 2023, and to benefit technically from this strong competition.

The draw for the new edition of the Arab Football Clubs Championship (King Salman Cup), which was held yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, put Al-Wahda team (the representative of Emirati football) against Al-Burj Al-Lebanese in the first round matches, and the first-leg match will be held in Lebanon, and the return match will be held in the Emirates.

The winner of this confrontation qualifies to meet the winner of the match between the Royal Moroccan Army and the Libyan Union, in preparation for playing in the fourth group of the tournament, which includes Algerian youth Belouizdad, Moroccan Raja and another team.

Al Zaabi explained in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that Al-Wehda agreed to participate in the tournament after evaluating the matter from the concerned authorities in the club, especially that participation in the presence of strong Arab clubs is a good addition.

He said: “We agreed after we received an invitation in this regard from the Football Association, and we have 30 players in the team’s list, and there is an opportunity for all players to be present in the matches, whether in the league or this Arab championship, and we look forward to crossing into the second round and being present in the other stages of the tournament.”
