DUBAI, 5th July, WAM/ Our national muaythai team will participate in the World Games hosted by Birmingham in the United States of America during the period 7-17 of this month, among 3,600 male and female athletes from 100 countries from all over the world competing in 36 sports. Its activities are held in 15 locations.
The Muay Thai competitions will be held over 3 days from 15 to 17 July, and our team will be represented by Nour El-Din Samir, who weighs 63.5 kg, Muhammad Mardi, who weighs 67 kg, Amin Al Mutassim, who weighs 71 kg, and Elias Habib, who weighs 81 kg.
Elias Habib, the captain of the national team and the gold medalist of 81 kg in the last world championship, which was held in Abu Dhabi with the participation of 700 players from 100 countries, confirmed that preparations are going in full swing to raise the UAE flag in the World Games with the participation of the world’s elite stars who qualified for this tournament after participating in many Tournaments during which points were collected for the opportunity to participate in this great global forum.
Habib indicated that the team is currently in an internal camp after the honorable appearance in the World Championship in Abu Dhabi, during which it won 12 colored medals and ranked second in the general ranking table, with the youth team leading the ranking table in its category, explaining that the tournament will witness the participation of the best 8 players in each weight.
Elias said that the World Games are no less important than major forums such as the Olympics due to the presence of elite athletes from all over the world, and the chances of the UAE and its presence in the tournament is strong and our ambition is limitless, and the focus during the camp that preceded the World Championship and lasted for two months was on many aspects. Technical, before we re-enter another new camp as a final stop before entering the competitions in the tournament.
