DUBAI, 5th April, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE padel team defeated its Saudi counterpart in three matches without a response, as part of the competitions of the first edition of the International Padel Championship, which is being held within the activities of the tenth edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.
The UAE national team decided the match that was held in the first round in the first group of the championship, by winning the three consecutive matches, with a score of 2-0, 2-1 and 2-0.
The UAE national team was represented in the three matches by the duo Abdullah Abdullah and Faris Al-Janahi, then Salem Al-Houli and Hamad Al-Janahi, and in the last match Abdullah Ahli and Omar Bahrozyan.
In the second match in the same group, Japan defeated Qatar 2-1.
In the second group, the Iranian team defeated its Bahraini counterpart in three matches without a response, and for the account of the same group, the Egyptian team defeated Kuwait 2-1.
Tomorrow, Thursday, 4 matches will be held within the competitions of the third round of the tournament, in which 8 teams will participate, where the UAE will meet Qatar and Saudi Arabia with Japan in the first group, and Iran will meet Kuwait and Bahrain with Egypt in the second group.
On a related note, the Organizing Committee of the Volleyball Championship in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament decided to grant the teams with the first four positions in the tournament an automatic participation card in the next edition, which gives the participants an additional motivation to excel, win matches and present the strongest offers, given that this victory will give them rewarding financial rewards and guarantee their participation in the tournament.
