Emirates News Agency – Tomorrow.. the Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi.. Al-Ahly aspires to win the 13th title, and Pyramids seeks the first coronation

ABU DHABI, 4th May / WAM / Tomorrow, Friday, Al-Ahly will meet Pyramids in the Egyptian Super Cup, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

Al-Ahly will play the match as a champion of the Egypt Cup, while Pyramids will run as runners-up in the league competition for the last season, after Zamalek, the league title holder, apologized for participating in the match.
This is the third time that Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium has hosted the Egyptian Super Cup, as it had previously hosted it in February 2020, and Zamalek won the title at Al-Ahly’s expense with a penalty shootout, and it was the second time in the 2017 edition, and Zamalek also won it with a penalty shootout.
Al-Ahly was crowned the Super Cup in its last edition last February, which it collected against Zamalek at Hazaa Bin Zayed Stadium, with a 2-0 victory.
Al-Ahly and Pyramids met in 17 matches in all tournaments (the Egyptian League and the Egypt Cup), Al-Ahly won 8 of them, and Pyramids in 5, while the tie was present in 4 matches, and Al-Ahly’s last victory over Pyramids was in the Egypt Cup final, last April 2-1, To be crowned champion.
And in the event that Al-Ahly is crowned with the title, it will reach the title No. 13 in its history, as the most crowned club in the Super Cup, and in the event that Pyramids win, it will be the first in its history for the cup, as well as in all tournaments, as it has never achieved any titles since its establishment.
Al-Ahly enters the match, armed with its qualification to the semi-finals of the African Champions League, after its victory over Moroccan Raja 2-0 in the first leg, and a goalless draw in the second leg.
While Pyramids are entering the meeting, aspiring to compensate for the exit from the African Confederation Cup, after they were knocked out of the tournament in the quarter-finals against the South African team, Marumo Gallants, where they lost 0-1 in the second leg, and tied 1-1 in the first leg.
The hosting comes based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Football Association and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, which includes hosting the Egyptian Super Cup for two consecutive editions.
