DUBAI, 16th November / WAM/ Her Excellency Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Space Agency, discussed with His Excellency Eng. Her Excellency added that the constructive cooperation between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain is moving forward in order to achieve the ambitions and plans of the two countries in the space sector, and joint projects, especially the light 1 satellite, are witnessing rapid developments that confirm the determination of the two brotherly countries to advance cooperation between them to new heights.

For his part, His Excellency Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed stressed the keenness to support and strengthen the close, distinguished and historical relations between Bahrain and the UAE.

He said that the fields of space, science and technology have a significant impact on our daily lives and the two brotherly countries are determined to enhance cooperation and build on the economic benefits provided by knowledge-based and innovation-based industries.

It was a pleasure for me to hold talks today with Her Excellency Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri to discuss the latest developments regarding the joint satellite project, Light-1, and to discover new ways to enhance cooperation and develop the space sectors in the two countries.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, most notably the latest developments in the project to build the joint satellite “Light 1” and the latest developments related to its launch date and training opportunities in a number of fields related to space science and technology. Views were also exchanged on a set of future projects.

The meeting also dealt with the participation of the Emirates Space Agency in the Bahrain International Air Show to be held late next year, as a translation of the distinguished partnership between the Agency and the National Space Science Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries.
