SHARJAH, 29th November, WAM / The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Science and Technology of the University of Sharjah organized a workshop entitled “Satellite Systems Sharjah Sat-1”, in preparation for the launch of the cube satellite “Sharjah Sat-1”.
The workshop presented many scientific and research topics with the participation of the engineers of the Cube Satellite Laboratory in the Department of Space Sciences at the Academy, which focused on the satellite payload, the control system, data processing, communications and energy, in addition to the satellite structure, in the presence of a large number of students, researchers and space science enthusiasts.
Dr. Elias Fernini, Director of the Department of Space Sciences at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Science and Technology, confirmed that the academy seeks to organize many topics in the field of space sciences and astronomy that contribute to serving the local community in order to provide students and researchers with scientific and knowledge experiences, such as learning about the Sharjah Sat-1 satellite, which is scheduled to be launched. Next December, pointing to the importance of keeping abreast of the latest developments in the world in the field of space and astronomy.
During the workshop, the engineers of the Cube Satellite Laboratory at the Academy presented a number of topics related to the cube satellite SharjahSat-1, where Eng. Mariam Al Ansari presented the importance of cube satellites and their most prominent uses, and shed light on the systems of the SharjahSat-1 satellite project.
Engineer Maryam Sharif gave an overview of the command and data processing subsystem “C&DH”, which is one of the subsystems of the Sharjah-Sat-1 satellite, where she dealt with the concept of the system and its functions. She also presented the hardware components and described the links between the payload system and other subsystems.
Engineer Youssef Farroukh gave a presentation on the position and control system on board the Sharjah Sat-1 satellite, which is considered one of the most important systems responsible for directing the camera to take pictures of the Emirate of Sharjah and directing the satellite to the earth station to receive data. Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sabt gave a presentation on Sharjah Sat-communication systems. 1 components of S-Band and UHF/VHF and discuss how to design, install and test them.
Engineer Fatima Al Ketbi also gave a presentation entitled “The Electric Power System of the Al Shaqa Satellite -Sat-1”. She mentioned that the SharjahSat-1 satellite relies on solar energy to generate electricity, as the outer structure of the satellite is covered with solar panels that convert sunlight into energy. In addition, the satellite contains a battery to distribute power to the rest of the satellite systems during the time when there is no sunlight from orbit.
At the end of the workshop, Tarifa Al-Kaabi, a research engineer at the Cube Satellite Laboratory, touched during her presentation on the importance of the external structure system of the cube satellite in protecting and supporting all systems. the design.
