Astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri, the first Emirati to reach the International Space Station, revealed that he carried the Israeli flag with him on his first space mission, a year before the signing of the peace agreement between the Emirates and Israel.

Al Mansouri’s announcement came during his visit to the “Expo 2020 Dubai” exhibition, where he toured some of the pavilions, and presented many of the national flags that accompanied him during his adventure into space.

Al Mansouri said, “I thought of a lot of things that I could do to represent different countries, but nothing beats taking their flags. The flag represents the country’s traditions and ideas…When I bring back the flags of different countries and pavilions, I see the happiness and pride of their people.”

He added, “They were very happy, and that’s what matters… The mission I did sent a very strong message to everyone, that what the UAE has achieved, and what it did aboard the International Space Station, is an international thing, that everyone can achieve.”

Al-Mansoori visited many pavilions, including Kuwait, Qatar, Palestine, Oman, Egypt, Tunisia, Somalia, Israel and Sudan, and presented each country with its flag.
